Government should apologise for 'five years of failed privatisation' - Lammy on probation reforms

“We recognise that probation services have faced immense challenges during the lockdown period. But Chris Grayling’s disastrous part privatisation has destroyed morale, forced experienced staff to quit, and failed to foster the strong local links that are necessary for the probation service to succeed.

“In his statement on the future of the probation service today, the Justice Secretary should apologise for the government’s five years of failed privatisation in probation and set out a strategy to bring it back fully into public hands.”
