MPs will hear
evidence from leaders across the UK tourism industry on how their
sector has been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The hearing is
the third evidence session of the
Committee’s wider
inquiry examining the impact
on sectors within the remit of the Department for Digital,
Culture, Media and Sport.
The session will
explore the financial impact of the lockdown restrictions imposed
in the UK, how the sector can recover, how visitor attractions
will gain the trust of consumers in terms of safety arrangements
as well as the way in which the sector has diversified during
this period.
The Committee
will also consider the impact of any increase in demand facing UK
holiday destinations, such as the coast or caravan and camp
sites, should more restrictions be lifted and people encouraged
to go on holiday in the UK.
