John Spellar (Warley) (Lab): At the end of March, I asked the
Prime Minister to help the thousands of our people stranded abroad,
notably in south Asia and especially in the Punjab. Grudgingly, and
much slower than other countries, the Foreign Office organised
fights back, but many are still stranded. Furthermore, the FCO now
seems to be washing its hands of those with indefinite leave to
