Rebecca Long-Bailey responds to Jingye's plans to purchase British Steel

Rebecca Long-Bailey MP, Labour’s Shadow Business Secretary, commenting on Jingye's plans to purchase British Steel, said:

"A strong steel sector is vital for the UK's economy and security, and Labour congratulates the workers and their unions who refused to give up on their plant and fought hard for this deal.

“Labour welcomes this package of investment, and we will be supporting the unions in making sure that the future of the plant is secured and the workforce is given guarantees about their economic security going forward. Labour will support the trade unions' argument that the plant needs to be run efficiently and safely.”
