The Health and Social Care Committee will hold an evidence
session on childhood obesity to follow up on its previous
inquiries (Childhood obesity: Time
for action), and its predecessor’s work
(Childhood obesity: brave
and bold action and Childhood obesity:
follow-up).
The session will put key questions to investigate the
progress that has been made 3 years on from the publication of
the first chapter of the Government’s childhood obesity plan. The
session will also consider what the Government’s next steps
should be to tackle this problem.
In this session, the committee will hear from the former
Chief Medical Officer, and representatives
from Public Health England, academics, campaigning groups and
representatives from the Department for Health and Social Care
and other departments with responsibility for policy areas
relating to childhood obesity
