Following the appointment of the former Chair of the Treasury
Committee, , as Secretary of
State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the Speaker announced
in July that there would be an election for the new Chair of the
Committee.
The Speaker suggested that the election could take place in the
second week of the September sitting, although no dates have been
officially confirmed.
Members of the Treasury Committee have appointed to serve as interim Chair
until a new Chair has been elected. This will include chairing
the Committee’s scheduled evidence session with the Bank of
England on Wednesday 4 September.
Commenting on the announcement, , Interim Chair of the Treasury
Committee, said:
“As the 31st October deadline draws
ever-closer, the Committee will take evidence from the Bank of
England to examine preparations for Brexit, as well as its most
recent Inflation Report.”
