LAAS Urges Labour Investigation Into “Extremely Concerning” Holocaust Tweets

Euan Philipps, spokesperson for Labour Against Antisemitism: “Allegations that pro-Jeremy Corbyn activists appear to be using claims about relatives who died in the Holocaust as part of a Twitter campaign to deflect claims of antisemitism in the Labour Party are extremely concerning.

It appears that a number of these activists are using the same story, portraying themselves as second generation Holocaust survivors. The origins of this story seem to be the Twitter account of Andrew Feinstein, a former South African politician who promotes anti-Israel conspiracy theories and who is well known on the Hard Left.

He has frequently used his family history to substantiate his belief that Jeremy Corbyn is not an antisemite. In addition, he also appears to have endorsed Holocaust denying accounts and is a member of the notorious antisemitic Facebook group, Palestine Live. One of the administrators of this group is Elleanne Green, a suspected neo-Nazi.

When Mr Feinstein was challenged yesterday he alleged those questioning him were colluding in a ‘false flag operation’. He also liked a tweet calling a prominent Jewish activist a "fake jew".

We urge the Labour Party to investigate potential links between their activists and Mr Feinstein and enforce rules so that any member caught abusing the memory of the Holocaust (including to defend Jeremy Corbyn) are expelled.”
