Baroness Stedman-Scott (Con):...We are investing in the education
of our future generations through our reforms of apprenticeships
and technical education. In 2017 our reforms fundamentally changed
what apprenticeships are, to improve their quality and the
long-term opportunities they can provide. We have invested nearly
£7 billion this year alone in education for 16 to 19 year-olds, but
we know we need to go further. That is why we are transforming

this year alone in education for 16 to 19 year-olds, but we know we
need to go further. That is why we are transforming technical
education through T-levels so that young people have the knowledge
to get the high-skill, high-wage jobs of the future. We are backing
these reforms with an extra £500 million per year once the new
T-levels are fully rolled out. As many noble Lords will know, the
founder of the Salvation Army, William Booth, said, “That and
better will do”...
