Advance notice: Integrated PEEL Assessments (Tranche 1) to be published

In May 2018, HMICFRS changed our approach to the PEEL inspection programme. The new Integrated PEEL Assessment (IPA) programme develops the existing approach. While it is underpinned by an updated methodology, how we inspect is broadly the same from year to year so that the public can see how each police force’s performance changes over time.

HMICFRS is inspecting all 43 forces in three tranches. The following 14 forces are being inspected as part of tranche 1. Each report looks at the effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy of each force:

• Gloucestershire
• Greater Manchester
• Humberside
• Kent
• Leicestershire
• Norfolk
• Nottinghamshire
• West Midlands
• Wiltshire

IPA spotlight report

Along with the 14 IPA reports, HMICFRS is issuing a spotlight report. This report provides a summary of the main themes and issues identified during the tranche 1 inspections.
