ASCL comment on exam malpractice

Commenting on exam malpractice statistics published today, Suzanne O’Farrell, qualifications specialist at the Association of School and College Leaders, said:

“Congratulations to schools, colleges and students on the exemplary way in which this summer’s exams were conducted. The number of incidents of malpractice represents a minute proportion of the exams taken in a period which has seen the biggest change in GCSEs since their introduction and continuing reforms to A levels. Malpractice involving staff, schools and colleges has actually fallen. The administration of these exams is a vast logistical exercise and the fact that malpractice is so rare is testimony to the high standards in schools and colleges.”
