50,000 children with gambling problem - Tom Watson responds

Tom Watson MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, commenting on reports that more than 50,000 children have developed a gambling problem, said:

“Gambling addiction is Britain’s hidden epidemic. These figures show how terribly children are affected by it.

“We are currently bombarded with gambling advertising wherever we go – it’s no surprise children heed the call of the ads.

“We urgently need tighter restrictions on gambling adverts and better protections and treatment for those struggling with problem gambling.”
