John McDonnell MP responds to Theresa May’s fuel duty announcement

John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, responding to Theresa May’s fuel duty announcement, said:

"This heaps more pressure on Philip Hammond to explain how he will fill the hole in his Budget: with other tax rises, more spending cuts or more borrowing.

"Under the Tories the cost of living continues to rise, with real wages below 2010 levels and millions unable to afford a secure home.

"Meanwhile car dependency has increased, public transport use is in decline, and the government is failing on air pollution and climate change."
