Today (Thursday 13 December) the UK Government will publish the
next batch of technical notices, designed to inform businesses
and citizens on the steps they will need to take in the unlikely
event the UK leaves the European Union without a deal.
The notices will be published after a meeting of the Cabinet to
review the Government's no deal preparations, and build on the
extensive work that has taken place across Whitehall over the
past two years to prepare the UK for life outside of the EU,
irrespective of the outcome of negotiations.
Today's technical notices will cover issues such as:
- Mobile phone roaming charges;
- Upholding environmental standards; and
- Vehicle standards.
Speaking ahead of publication, , Secretary of State for
Exiting the European Union said:
"With six months to go until the UK leaves the European Union, we
are stepping up our 'no deal' preparations so that Britain can
continue to flourish, regardless of the outcome of negotiations.
"These technical notices are part and parcel of our sensible,
pragmatic approach to preparing for all outcomes.
"Getting a deal with the European Union is still by far and away
the most likely outcome, and I will continue to champion our
Chequers proposals with as the best way of
securing the deep and special partnership we want with the EU."
Further technical notices will be published in due course.
