Topics
Flexibility and market design: The
next challenges to decarbonization are flexibility and market
design as growing variable renewable output will cause power
systems to behave very differently from their original designs.
Adequately remunerated, flexibility can enable renewables
integration, adding value to ever-increasing volumes of variable
power output and guaranteeing security of supply. What are the
solutions to tackle its challenges? From battery storage to V2G
to virtual power plants – which technologies and business models
are likely winners?
EVs ─ solving the charging
infrastructure dilemma: EV sales are
expected to reach 1.6 million this year and 60 million by 2040.
Growth is fast but charging infrastructure still remains a
challenge. What are the main issues with the slow uptake of
(fast) charging infrastructure? What role do OEMs have in solving
this issue? Can energy companies and car OEMs work
together?
Successful
decarbonization: Some businesses have
dramatically reduced the carbon intensity of their core revenues,
whilst maintaining or growing their revenue and profitability.
What does successful decarbonization look like? What can we learn
from their stories for companies, countries and regions? What’s
the next hurdle in successful
decarbonization?
