MP Calls for more Community Volunteers

Helen Grant paid a visit to the Maidstone Corps of the Salvation Army recently to meet with their leader Major Lynne Clifton and to chat with volunteers and guests.

Recognised for their choirs and the Salvation Army Band, the organisation also opens its doors throughout the week, as both a church and a community centre, offering programmes and activities to the community alongside Christian faith meetings for bible study, prayers and fellowship.

Helen said ‘There was such a feeling of warmth and compassion amongst the super volunteers I met, who are helping some very vulnerable people.  I have agreed with Major Clifton to run an MP surgery there in the autumn, to guide and advise anyone who needs help, and perhaps it will become a regular event’.
